Hatred of Religious Freedom in America?

On 15-Jan-2019 CNN reporter Kate Bennett tweeted this out

"So, lemme get this straight, the second lady of the United St ates has chosen to work at a school that openly discriminates against LGBT adults and children."

Here's the thing. VP Pence and his wife are Christians. So why is it so strange to this reporter that a Christian woman is working at a Christian school that follows the Christian faith? When you stop and think about it, it's absolutely absurd that this basic concept is eluding Kate Bennett? Is she really a full fledged reporter on CNN, an American media site located in America with countless Americans working there alongside her... And she has no idea what Christians believe? Seriously?

I'm not ruling it out. I just have to wonder if this is more an attack on religious freedom and less her being completely ignorant of the countries predominant and founding faith. This is America after all. Religious organizations are legally allowed to follow their faith both in business practices and hiring.
